Vinland Elementary School is located west of Poulsbo.
Vinland teachers and staff have been awarded nine NK Schools Foundation Classroom Grants and have received at least one every year since the program began in 2004.
Second grade teacher Beverly Godfrey used grant money to buy materials for her students to make rod puppets. They wrote stories which used their puppets as characters. Another of Ms. Godfrey’s grant projects was a unit on lights and shadows where she used the funds to purchase flashlights, batteries, and colored floodlights.
Beverly Godfrey is an excellent example of the type of teacher that North Kitsap Schools Foundation wants to encourage. One of our volunteers who visited her class remarked that “she is the passionate type of teacher who inspires a passion for learning in her students.”
We are fortunate to have many dedicated and passionate teachers in the North Kitsap School District and many are at Vinland.
Tiff Watland, Rich Wendt, Carla Kessler, Carolyn Mosiman, Colleen Fairchild, and Deb Kidder are other Vinland staff members who have received NK Schools Foundation Classroom Grants.
